Idiotically overpriced for what it does. It doesn't even include any drives...
WHS+cheapo low power system will go the same thing (and a whole lot more) for less money. Mine cost $1300, but it includes 12TB of storage.

Does the Drobo talk AFP? If not it's gonna back up your macs just the same as the WHS product does.
I've been using WHS to do TM backups to my macs for some time now and it seems to work quite well.

It is not a bad idea. As drive capacity increases, or as you need space, you can swap out a drive and the raid rebuilds itself.
As far as Time Machine goes I have tried to do a full system restore using a backup and it did not work well. Pulling back a file or two no problems, but more than that I would go with something else. How many people test their backups, or just assume that Time Machine will work as hyped?
