Its not the total psi.. Its how much air it can deliver. CFM..Talk about a tard..

This would be a good compressor for blowing up tires, pool toys, and maybe a small brad nailer. When shopping for a compressor, it's not just the PSI (Pounds per Square Inch) it delivers, but also the CFM (Cubic Feet Per Minute) it puts out. FCM=Volume, the higher the number the more volume it has. If you want to run say an Air Wrench, you need a lot of volume along with the PSI. Most compressors average the 125psi range, not 150psi.

Lets compare this with one with a 3 gallon compressor that supports 150 PSI. The CFM rate will be higher with the 150 psi. You shouldn't spout off when the compressor you own plugs into your cigarette lighter.

Seems to me that CFM is more directly related to how fast the compressor can produce the volume of air at that pressure than how much pressure it can produce. Granted the bigger the tank the more CFM you can get initially, but as soon as the tank pressure equalizes it is all up to the compressor and its output.

Having said that I have the 2 gallon model of this compressor and it has worked great for blowing off stuff, nail guns, brad nailer's, filling bike and car tires. May not have enough CFM to run an air wrench, buffer or the like but have never needed to use those tools at home.

That is my $0.02.

I just need something to keep my car tires inflated and blow up the kiddie pool once a year. Using the air hose at the gas station sucks.

i've had it for about 1.5 years now. i like it. as others said, great for blowing up car tires, cleaning out areas with compressed air, and running a nail gun. i haven't tried running a real air tool from it. it would probably work for something with low CFM requirements.

#4, 5 and 7. Actually you have it exactly backwards. Most compressors deliver more volume of air (SCFM) at lower pressure (40 psi as opposed to 90 psi.)

As to the maximum pressure, that is usually dependent on the design of the compressor.
