damn I just paid $200 for this about 2 weeks ago. WARNING: the height is a LOT thinner than I thought it was. My 19" standard LCD seems bigger than this due to the height. Plus I now realize that a widescreen monitor sucks for gaming...

    1920 x 1080 pixels sucks for gaming,

Dont fall for these resolutions, Infact they are so wide they dont even seem much bigger then a 22 inch or less.

    A 24 inch 1920 x 1080 is similar to height to a 1650 x 1080 22 inch monitor.

1920 x 1200 is much better, and taller. It doenst stretch in gaming and is far better for gamers.

Do not get 1080i true hdtv monitors!! Go for 16:10 aspect ratio for gaming. 16:9 if you watch movies / work mostly.

Sadly, most 22"+ monitors are now coming out at 1080i resolution. Even the tiny netbooks... 1024x576... ugh, we're going backward in resolution.

Can you elaborate why 16:9 is bad for gaming?

I'm looking at 16:9 LCDs so I can hook up a 360 to them as well, and play without black bars on the top and bottom (which a 16:10 LCD would have).

16:9 is great for movies, and i forgot to mention xbox ect, they were made for that. But for gaming it stretches the images out so everything looks different. The best way to put it would be to have a side by side comparision. Not sure where you could do that but if you have 2 PC games open one in 16:9 res, and 16:10 res you will see the difference. Just think about it, the 16:9 screens are not as tall but wider.

The 16:10 screens are taller but not as wide.

So you're saying the PC game developers designed the games (textures, models, etc) to be displayed at a 16:10 ratio?

If that's the case, then aren't they just as likely to switch to 16:9 once that becomes more widespread (just as they switched from 4:3)?

Just noticed that BF2142 doesn't even support 16:9 Sad
