The price is tempting, but apparently picture quality is poor and there are overscan headaches:

I work near a Hannspree store and may swing by there after work to see if they have one of these in store.

Checked one of these out in person. No black bars; 1920x1080 gets stretched vertically to 1920x1200.
Overscan CAN be adjusted or disabled (per input), but it requires going into an undocumented maintenance menu. Upcoming models will feature a user-accessible menu where you can switch from "video" (overscan) to "PC" (no overscan) mode.
Picture quality with 1080p input (Blu-Ray) looked better than I expected (aside from the vertical stretching). Horizontal viewing angles are OK, vertical are poor, but mostly when viewing from below, which is unlikely to be an issue in real-world situations.
This price isn't that great; In-store price was $430 (including a 7" digital picture frame). It looks like they're trying to clear out this model before the new one comes out. The newer 25" model will be 1920x1080 -- no answer on whether the new 28" will be also.
