With 40" 1080p Sammy's at under $900, just posted on Bens for instance I don't see this as a deal for a 42" LG.

Plus the styling on this looks so dated with the big speaker section underneath, still that might provide better sound from the set, which is often a poor spot for LCD TVs. But who thought that big silver LG button looked good?

should be noted that this is a 120hz model. I don't think i've seen a Samsung 42" 120hz for under $1200 yet. I agree the speakers are dated and pointing down doesn't really make for great quality sound, but if you have a TV like this you should be hooking up some decent speakers anyway. reviews have shown that more than a few people get a gray line in the middle of the TV on arrival and have to send back. so there is some risk involved in the buy, but Newegg is a good vendor so returns shouldn't be too much of a hassle.

Good point #2, I missed the 120hz. Also agree re speakers, have ran wires for my own surround sound but haven't got there yet, in the meantime I hooked up a sound bar and subwoofer and even that was a big improvemnet.

I don't have a 120hz set, but I read that a lot of people turn if off as they don't like the effect.

#3, you mean the 42LG50, which is a 1080p at 60hz. Its currently $799 but out of stock.

#4 why would there be a problem with the 120hz? all it should do it provide a better play back on the 24hz movie format...

Damn Newegg. I paid $1200 for this 6 weeks ago. It's a great TV. Would be even greater if $200 bucks less. Sad

#6 obviously knows all about TVs and cinematography talking about the 24hz movie format.

60hz TV reminds me of the 420P EDTV a few years back. I hate manufactures that produces shitty product like this.
