Just steal more glasses from bars and you won't need to pay for these.

i usually do that with toilet water, so my water bill stays low.

Doesn't wearing Eau de Toilette result in you having problems meeting women?

I think I'm going to resist this tempting offer in favor of hitting the thrift store.

Are they dishwasher soap safe? We have ruined many clear glasses by washing them in the dishwasher with popular brand detergents which etch the glass we found out too late.

@ samben2. You are mistaken about dishwasher soap etching glass, and you may also be an idiot.

Imagine for a moment that dishwasher soap actually _could_ etch glass. How do you think the crappy plastic bottles the soap comes in stay intact?

I think you don't know the difference between scale from hard water and etched glass.

#7 must be doubly an idiot. There are two principle cleaning agents, one is enzymatic and the other is a silica grit. Google search for the terms silica dishwashing machine etching, to find plenty of evidence.

The former won't etch glass much if at all. The latter, silica being fine sand, will.

The reason the containers remain intact is because there is not a washing machine inside the container spraying the silica at the walls of the container continuously like a dishwasher does to dishes.

As for scale from hard water, many dishwashers have a rinse agent compartment so the water should sheet off, that shouldn't be a significant problem.

However, if there are residual hard water buildup problems, the detergent with silica in it will get rid of that much better than an enzymatic-only formulation.

To answer #5's question, no any regular glass will be etched by a detergent with silica in it, use a different detergent without silica. However, I wouldn't call the glasses ruined, they're just not clear anymore, a bit unsightly but still serviceable. One thing many people do is set aside dishes they use when guests are over, not putting the wear and tear on those for daily meals.

The other alternative is just hand wash anything you don't want to be etched, regular sink dishwashing detergent has no silica in it, though products like Soft-scrub and other cleansers might.

Then there is the last option, always keep your beer glass refilled so you don't need to wash it. Burp. A frosty mug with dark ale in it is hard to see signs of etching on anyway, even moreso after you drink enough of it but at that point I doubt you'd care if you could see it.

even though this deal looks looks like it includes a pint of dark ale, and a pint of light lager, the price is still pretty steep

Now riddle me this, why are we still conversing about the same glasses that've been posted on the site many times already?

They were a buck cheaper last month and it can't be a very good price since overstock deals in OVERSTOCK, surplus stuff, meaning if it were a good price they'd have sold out of them long before now.
