seems like something has to give... HD camcorders with picture mode or SLR cameras with movie mode.

Whats the deal? It's $899 not $829. Just wasted about 5 minutes of my time.

have this camera. worth every penny. i compared this to the Nikon D90 and Canon 50D. Over the Nikon, the T1i is cheaper, has better video capabilities (full HD and higher frame rates), and has slightly better higher ISO performance. The LCD screen on the Canon is MUCH better 900k pixels vs 230k. Trust me, this matters hugely when using the video function. The D5000 is par on price but still lacks in these areas.

I seriously considered the 50D, but for the average user, the image quality wasn't that much better to justify the price difference. I'd rather get the T1i and buy a good 70-300mm lens instead. the 50D also lacks the video features.

Who is really going to record video with a camcorder.
