1080p but only 10x zoom. Still waiting for the 25x zoom like on the older camcorders.

TigerDirect has run some sales on the Cannon HD camcorders recently. From the reviews I've read, those have excellent picture quality.

Also, note that this camera can only use Memory Stick Pro Duo cards. SD cards won't work.

I have the CX100 and it is pretty good quality - not as awesome of some of the bigger models, but definitely VERY good. I have had the CX7, CX12 and TG1. Those may be 5% better than the CX100, but this is by far the smallest HD camcorder I have had that is great quality. Had the Sanyo, but, well, let's not go their. I also tried some of the Canon HD;s - they are great, but just too big for my usage. This Sony model also has 8GB internal memory which is more than enough for most of my recordings. Everyoen complains about the Memory Stick Pro Duo cards - I got 1 8GB for $32 and that is more than enough. Double the money of the SD, but a one time purchase so not so bad. Also, this transfers simply through USB whereas the other 3 Sony's I had used a proprietary cable.

not double, more like triple. You can get 8gb SD cards for around $10 on sale.

Plus, once you get up to higher capacities that double to triple the cost matters a lot more.

You can get a 32GB SD card for $74. 32GB Memory Stick Pro Duo's don't even exist. You can, however, buy a 16GB stick for about $74.
