They also have Extreme III SD in 4-8-16Gb on the rebate.
Went with two Extreme III 8Gb for $101 -AR $50 and the $10 Loyalty code gets it down to $41 or $20.50 each.

does anybody really want to mess with a $90 rebate? This could be a nightmare on waiting to get it back.

    Only rated class4.

However, these are the latest Ultra II cards that are rated at 15MB/second, which is faster than most the generic class 6 memory cards.

Even at 15MB/sec, it will take you almost 20 minutes to copy a full card to your computer.

its not really a rebate, rather a Visa gift card

Class 4 (4MB/sec) logo when the claimed read/write speeds are 15MB/sec? Wonder why not Class 6 (6MB/sec)? Something is fish here.

From a BB post on the Sandisk lifetime warranty:

I own several SanDisk Secure Digital Cards. I purchased one of the 1GB Ultra II Secure Digital Card and it gave me problems writing files trying to format. I contacted Sandisk and informed them of my problem, they asked what equipment I was using. They came back and said I should have checked with the manufacturer of the equipment to see if it was compatible.

    WHAT!

Lets see I have tried to get this card to work in two different Nikon cameras, two Dell Computers, two Gateway desktops, one Gateway Laptop, three emachines, two usb readers (one was made by Sandisk), a Palm TX, and MP3 player.

You would think they would replace it but no they say card should be fine, it should be but it is not. So much for life time replacement.

I also had a few sandisk cards. One CF card went bad and they sent me a new one. No problems here. Sometimes it pays to call in again and get another rep.

I hate the rebates that come in the form of a gift card. Any purchase you make with the gift card has to be less than the remaining value on it; otherwise, the purchase doesn't get approved (you can't pay the difference in cash at the time of purchase). Thus, you inevitably end up with some residual value on the card and never enjoy the full rebate value. I've got a bunch of cards with odd values remaining (23 cents, 17 cents, 14 cents, etc. -- amounts you can't even buy candy with). Individually, they don't amount to much, but taken collectively (if you have a bunch like me), the amount you lose out on isn't trivial.
