You can buy any number fine GM or Chrysler vehicles for that same price.

you can get a better hardtail at your local bike shop for about the same price if you shop around. on top of that it'll probably come with a multi-year free tune-ups.

Deore components including the disc brakes, you're likely to pay the same if not more for an equivalent bike at a local bike shop. I haven't looked at the sticker on a Giant Rincon or Yukon recently but they're fairly popular and go for a bit over $500. Seems like it wasn't that long ago the Rincon was lower $4xx something so bike prices went up.
You have a hard choice in forks in these cheaper bikes, this one's fork is a little too harsh while the Rock Shocks Dart on others is too soft. Either/or have practically no dampening so too firm is probably better than too soft, considering you're already looking at hardtails.

looks like this is/was a good deal. the only frame size left is 13.3 or in some manufacturers s/xs. But if you fit, the frame is nice enough to build a decent bike from if you want.

No deal without XTR components and Fox fork

I'm surprised to see Shimano Deore which are in the middle of the Shimano rankings. I expected to see Altus (low end of the shimano ranking) at this price. XTR is at the top and probably would've doubled the price of the bike.
IMO, this is a pretty nice hybrid bike if that's what you're looking for.
