get a canon, lower end Nikon's are not good because they are slow at capturing pictures, require an annoyingly long time to process the image, and produce mediocre image quality. Their lens are shit and prone to getting stuck if you barely bump it. The only good thing is that it supports SDHC and has a pseudo optical image stabilization, which utilizes some software IS versus the better optical IS. Spend a little bit more for a canon SD series plz!
