You could always use nLite to make yourself a nice small version of XP too (got mine down to ~600mb). 4gb isnt much, but its enough if you plan to do small stuff like surf the net and check your email.

easy peasy ubuntu (based on v9.04) runs pretty well on these... great for typical email/surfing. only complaint about the eeepc 900 series is the keyboard is still the old/small layout with the whacked out right-shift key placement (same as the original eeepc 701 keyboards). also note this model at woot has no webcam. otherwise, great price!

I've never seen the point is mini laptops, but the more time goes by the more in the minority I am.

My wife is a teacher and uses a mini just to do school stuff with and surf the web on the couch. Works fine for that.

Now that my 6-yo lappy is dying i might give one of these a shot. I don't game as much as i used to. But still, how are the USB drivers for most HIDs?

Good deal, not worth buying, the performance totally outweighs the extra couple of bucks it costs to purchase a newer one.

I bought the same model for $154.99 at mwave
You still can do the same.
Current Woot price is no bargains at all.
People stated that previously it was $130 on Woot...

not sure what "performance" #12 speaks of... this model is the same intel N270 atom cpu as 99% the rest of the current netbook world. ram is DDR2 and can be upgraded to 2GB if you want. the only legit complaint is the 4GB base SSD here may be slow(er) than people like... $50 or so fixes that with a mini pci-e SSD (externally accessible bay) and you are on par with everything else in the netbook market of the current generation. note that for a *new* (non-refurb) unit, this is a very reasonable price.

that is... the mwave deal #13 speaks of is for a refurb (3-month warranty) of the same model. woot deal is new and full 1-yr asus warranty.

Corrections to #13's posts:
1) mwave refurb is actually going for $164.99, making the Woot deal that much better.
2) Previous Woot deal was for a refurbished model with only 512MB memory (this deal was for a new netbook with 1GB of memory).
3) Previous Woot deal was NOT $130; it was $150 + $5 shipping.

I picked up a Eee 900a from Mwave (refurb). It was spotless, no problems at all. Hackintoshed it and runs great.
