This camera does not take good nite time shots. Sunny weather produces really bright pictures, almost too white. I stick with a canon for point and shoot. However the underwater movie feature is pretty neat. Sound and all, not bad for a fun water video camera. But picture taking is like 1 good shot for every 10 bad ones.

I have the 770SW. A much older version of this camera and have to somewhat agree with #1. Does not take the best night shots but day shots have been fine. Flips people out when you jump in the pool/surf with this in your hand.

#1 - i have this camera, and don't use the auto settings.. I manually set the iso and light correction, and i get some very good pics out of it. Its no SLR, but i've had great luck with it... but you're right if using the auto settings.. for effortless point and shoot - olympus's auto settings hunt too much in all but perfect lighting.
its the perfect camera for vacations though. the sealed body doesn't care about water, sand, soda, and it takes a beating too.. gets knocked around a lot and still keeps working.
I love the XD to microSD adapter too.. allows me to use faster class 6 memory, and i don't have to lug around the larger cards (4 micro SD and the associated holder its the size of 1 xd and holder)

yep...major shutter lag from the time you press the button to the actual snapping of the picture. picture quality does require some setting adjustment depending on your lighting situation.
it is definitely cool to use it underwater but you still need to be careful with it (water can still get in if you don't dry it off right away) and the shockproof part has come in handy a few times for me.
it's an ok camera not the greatest but for this price seems like a decent deal.
