I own this hub, and it is really good. It does come with a DC adapter to power those devices that need more current. A note of caution - reviewers have reported that some of these have short life spans due to over heating. I haven't experienced that myself, though.

Good thing it comes with the AC-DC adapter, it's unlikely you'd have more usb devices than a standard 4 or 5 port hub can handle and still power it off the USB bus, unless most everything had it's own PSU too.

Frak USB. Has almost always been a pile of crud in my book. Seems like even when I finally got to 2.0 ports, they were all dumbed down to 1.1 b/c I had 1.1 devices still. Never was happy with any of the hubs, speeds always have seemed slow to me, and data is too large. We have these TB or larger SATA drives at work that we throw into those Thermaltake X usb docking stations. Problem is that xfering a TB or even less takes forever when you're talking GBs + USB. Best thing to come from USB so far is a the combo USB/eSATA port. I say frak USB, throw it back where it came from and give me something with actual speed.

Reviews at NewEgg seem to indicate a *very* high failure rate...I'll pass on this one.
