The replacement ink carts are more than the copier? I have one and wouldn't get it again because of the expensive carts. It takes 5 carts and won't work if one should go down. The full carts are constantly putting out error messages. Cannon had to replace one cart for me and I just don't trust them anymore.

I've had a MP530 for about 6 months. Good prints, mediocre scanner, haven't tried fax. It does go through ink pretty fast.
Bought set of 5 off brand ink cartridges on ebay for $22; they seem to work just fine. I'm now trying to decide if it's worth it to spend $24 on a Canon chip resetter.

#1- Go get a cartridge re-setter then you can use non-chipped generic ink ( about 1 or 2 dollars /cartridge) or you can refill you original cartridge. I have use this printer for more than 9 months and never buy extra original cartridge (except the original unit come with printer.)
