The largest USA ISPs provide free antivirus licenses with your broadband contract. AT&T and Comcast do. Do a little googling.

Either get free AntiVirus from your ISP or purchase a better, more efficient scanner like Eset or Kaspersky. And for the best protection, buy their internet security, not just the AntiVirus.

All free, all much better than McAfee.
As an alternative to AVG anti-virus, the free Anvir AntiVir antivirus program has been getting excellent reviews lately.

McAfee Products is Pretty Good, either None of you actually own this or use it. Firewall is good straight forward, Got to admit blog down computer a little bid, unless you using dual core or better. I been using McAfee for 15 years, The only bad verion is the 2007 too many bugs, and McAfee refuse to give me my money back. saying they guarantee 30days money back only. Yea!. I hate them for that, and they also do not honor rebates.. For 12 bucks with 3 user. is worth it, Protect three computers with 4 bucks each.. Firewall control what in-comming or out-going, I'am using this to Block programs that trying to steal and send information out with out my knowloge.. Good Deal..

OK, genius, how is this a good deal when you can get something that works just as well for free that won't bog down your computer?

"Why not just get rid of the virus writers?"
The security software vendors are probably writing the viruses. Who stands to gain from the viruses and spyware?
Personally, I would stay away from McAfee. I downloaded once from my ISP and installed on a new Vista setup. McAfee bogged down the computer (more than Vista does). Protection was not that good either. Replaced with Panda (average ratings) and it found several security threats.

I am a software consultant, and I cringe when I have to work on Mcafee and AVG-there S (the really smell).
Do yourself a favor (MAX....PC Magazine) recommends Anvir AntiVirus, and so do I. IT fast and does not bog down your machine.
For paid Norton NIS 2009, is hard to beat, stay away from other Norton Versions.
