LED backlighting is supposed to give better contrast ratio, at least when done right (like on the Sony XBR8 televisions, which have a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio). I don't get why this would only be 1000:1 if it has Dynamic Dimming...

Don't at all like the direction they seem to be heading, with 1920x1080 resolution, versus the old 1920x1200; the extra height is quite useful for computer (rather than video) use...

ditto #2. i would so jump on this deal if it was 1920x1200

#1: These probably have very few LEDS and set them all to the same brightness. To get the incredible contrast ratios, they need to have separately controlled LEDs for each region of the screen. I seem to recall one of the Samsung LED backlit LCD TVs used hundreds of individually controlled LEDs.

just got this monitor. it's pretty nice but needed some color tweaking to match the color quality of my old samsung. i used nvidia's digital vibrance to get the best color quality, and now it looks great.

make this an e-ips with height adjustable stand and we'll talk. i'm willing to wait a year + pay $90 extra for that.
