Anyone here ever actually use one of these? Is this really any improvement over a standard keyboard?

Depends on the game. But in general no.

I enjoyed the one I used, though when it broke, I retrained back to a keyboard and have a hard time going back to one now.

#3: What about the training you've been working on vis-à-vis using the toilet instead of squatting and dropping on the carpet? How's that coming?

I still use my n52 which was purchased 5 years ago.
I wouldn't play a FPS without it!
Currently playing COD4 and COD WaW.
No need to use Belkin's software, just assign the keys you want in the controller game settings.
Can't beat the lifetime warranty.

Tried quite a few and prefer the SteelSeries Fang which Walmart sell online. Worth trying out and if you don't like it use their return policy. Here's the link. http://www.steelseries.com/us/products/keyboards/fang/information

This is better than a regular keyboard or the Fang because it really fits your hand. Your hand won't get fatigued during long play sessions, and your fingers will always hit the right keys without taking your eyes off the screen.
The n52TE is an improvement over the older n52 because the n52TE has internal memory. You can move it to another computer, say at a tournament or a LAN party, and it will still have your key assignments set the way you like without installing any software or hassles, just plug it in and play.
This is also useful in MMO's because of the highly programmable key macros you can set up. Or, if you "two box", it takes up a lot less room than a second keyboard for your bot.
Oddly, I don't find the hat switch useful for movement. I prefer to set up WASD keys on the keypad for movement and use the hat switch for other purposes, such as jump, duck, prone, stand.

I use my n52 the same way.
Great minds think alike!

I love my classic n52 but I don't know how this "Tournament Edition" is. It seems to me they took the old design, threw on some distracting LEDs, and marked the price up $30.
This probably isn't going to "take your game to the next level" or any BS like that but it is a very handy peripheral.
