I watched them live back in 1977. Even then SNL had far more lame stuff than funny stuff. Maybe not as bad as one out of eight, but certainly far less than five out of eight. But there was nothing else on so you sat through it. Buy it, but be prepared to hit fast-forward (or next chapter) a lot - something we couldn't do back then.
