So are the keys on this device as tall as a normal keyboard with the same amount of travel, or is it like using a notebook keyboard? There is something in the description that says: Switch activation mechanism : Low Profile key-switch and that worries me. Anyone know?

They're definitely taller than typical laptop keys #1, though a lot shorter than the old-school IBM keyboard keys and a little shorter than modern slim desktop keyboards.
It's hard to believe adding a handful of LEDs is worth $25 though, manufacturer volume pricing on the LEDs is probably about $3, though maybe another 3 for a circuit board to put them on instead of the typical mylar sheet other modern keyboards use.
