What I am wondering is can I use a high quality subwoofer ,manufactured by Velodyne, with this unit?. Mirage does make excellent speakers and I need new home theater speakers

Yes yes you can... these things are great and if you add in a 250-400 lower end Velodyne you would be good to go in a fair sized room. I'm not sure how the nanosats would do in a larger room.

Make sure the sub you choose can blend with these. Should be nimble in the mid range with a very tight bass. The nanosats start at a pretty high frequency.

great speakers and I've heard they pair well with velodyne subs.
