I prefer the kind that flip open. It just seems easier than pressing (and usually holding) a button to turn on/off while driving

I have seen many people go through stop signs or stop lights while they were talking on cell phones - some hands free.
Hands free has nothing to do with it. It's your lack of concentration that is the problem! If you think you are not losing your driving concentration then not only shouldn't you have a cell phone you shouldn't have a car either!
