A lots of camera can record HD now. Sooner or later, no one will buy these kind of camcorder any more. Unless... they are specialty like 3xCCD or write to tape (archive copy) or HD (you can record more).

Even DSLR can do this HD video trick now.

Oh come on now todd, just because you spent your entire life savings on a betamax vcr back in the day and now have to live in a tent on food stamps does make Sony bad. Its your own fault for buying things you could not afford.

i don't think hd recording is mainstream just yet. battery life on this thing is horrible when recording in hd. ~1hour I hear. just by a canon mini-dv camcorder for about half the price of this hd camcorder and wait until hd is more mainstream.
