does this thing make a raspberry sound or is that just the color?

Woot was selling these for $7.99 on June 14th. From the comments, these are not that bad and actually seem to work...

Yeah, comments at the time from satisfied users were of the "if you aren't expecting room-cooling capacity, you'll be satisfied" variety. It's meant to be pointed at you from a desk. And the blades are fabric, which means it's a lot safer but also not generating the same kind of air velocity as a standard fan.

Great for fan club meetings.

It doesn't match my decor.

This is of the "personal cooling" variety; thermaltake makes a usb-powered 80mm adjustable-speed fan that's better for cooling devices and enclosures (media cabinets, etc) since it is adjustable and more compact.
I would probably laugh at anyone who uses this, though -- if you get so hot sitting in front of your computer that you need a fan, you probably need to step away from the pron before you give yourself a heart attack...

I cut myself on the foam blades. Beware!
