Question is, does it function _well_ at any of the 3?

It's a really good, albeit heavy, pen. My step-dad liked it so much just as a pen he had me order him one. The flash drive works great but slow; it's in the middle of the pen so therefore has a nice cover which won't get lost (the "cover" of the flash drive is the whole top of the pen, with 5-6 full turns to unscrew). The laser pointer works perfectly for presentations, and it will work detached if you wish (uncovering the flash drive).

Oh, very cheap chrome plating...already peeled off around the middle, revealing a coppery metal underneath.
