I'm having trouble with my Dell e510 (yeah, I know...go ahead...) recognizing this drive. My e530 sees it, no problemo. Even updated my BIOS.
Anyone know if certain machines have limitations? I noticed one website selling drive upgrades for the e510 listed the smaller Hitachies, and 1 Tb other brands, but did not list this drive as an option.
Thanks for any help.

So far my experience with all Hitachi drives (especialy the DeskStar and TravelStar) have been BAD. And some that were out of warranty I opened up and found dust bunnies in them (I know that no hard drive is air tight, but I never saw dust in a drive by other manufacturers). I've also seen Hitachi use what appears to be glass platters. The ammount of failures across generations just does not make me a fan.
Hope you buy these for a RAID setup to protect your data! A 3 year warranty protects the hard drive but not your family pics and videos.

FYI. I'm still waiting for my $10 from 4/10/2009. Been approved since 5/3/2009. called customer service and said Zipzoomfly takes forever to pay up.

Deathstars name will always be related to hitachi's harddrives, is like once you kill a cat you will be known as a cat killer.

The Travelstars are some of the most reliable notebook drives ever made. I've run dozens with zero problems.
Bringing up the "Deathstar" issue so many years later and every time there is a Hitachi deal posted just shows how wildly out of touch some of the people who post here are.
Get a frigging life, losers. You're probably still running 40 gig ATA drives in a 1.6 gig P4 with half a gig of memory.

My deathstar drive still runs 24/7. Decade of running non stop. Gem out of lemons?

I've also been very unhappy with zipzoomfly rebates. Will probably never buy another item w/zzf rebate unless the price BEFORE rebate is worth it.

Hm, doesn't seem we can say P of S here.
Obviously if my drive was up the the standards many expect here then only a software update would have increased its original capacity of 15G to 1T.
