Is this one of the Leica's that aren't actually a leica? I hear that panasonic only licenses the name leica and slaps it on their cameras to make them sound more 'good.'

Panasonic does use Leica optics. My LX3 is essentially the same camera as the Leica D-Lux. Im not sure that any of the other Lumix cameras are actually based on Leica designs.
