who is white label? just saw a 500 WD drive for the same price. even if they are WD drives then half a TB would still be better

#5, its a byproduct of fixed costs and economies of scale. WD has the largest market share and produces the most drives. It's inefficient to run their manufacturing facilities at less than 100% so they make extra and sell them as off-brands. It would cost them only a few extra dollars to make one more drive up until the point hey have to build a new plant. Then the next drive costs millions.
