Love mine, had 2 years so far. Work 70 feet outside with the base-station in the basement. Note: no lighted keypad, so they tend to be better at a desk or other area with additional light instead of next to your bed when you are drunk dialing.

do the extra sets have their own charging cradles? and is the voltage 110v - 240v or just 110v? i am planning to buy these as a gift for a friend in asia and just want to make sure it works with 220v. thanks!!!

Each handset has it's own charge cradle. The power is supplied by an external transformer, so I guess you'd be looking at about $10 a handset to change that out; I guess that would make it wouldn't be the most cost effective gift at that point.

This is a much better choice (for reliability) than the Philips that was on here earlier. And as #2 stated, no special batteries to track down when the rechargeables start to lose their life.

#4, they do not work on 220V because a different wall adapter is needed for that. If you are traveling to Asia wait till you get there to buy a set made for that electric grid, or if you were going to mail it then your mailing cost erases it being a deal versus buying from a local Asian eStore.
