I would have agreed with #1 a week ago, but mine just failed. Didn't even do anything with it - it was sitting on top of a server for the past two months. Oh well, warranty time.

Seems a little pricey. I was at the local Costco a few days ago and they had 500GB portable USB 2.0 drives for $79. Don't recall if it was a WD or not, though.
