Land lands are useful in a couple of circumstances.
1) Edge of cell tower so cell usage unreliable.
2) No cell coverage.
3) Even when power is out is out in your home, the land line is normally still powered (by the phone company).
4) No running out of battery hours (standby or on-line).
5) If you use a dial-up ISP for a backup when high-speed is down.
6) Just because the old folks like it.
