what are you smoking? According to zzf site, "Sony Optiarc BR-5100S-0B SATA 2X Blu-ray Drive (Black), Bulk." Where does it say 5x for Blu-Ray and DVD+-RW? This drive is a ROM drive! $70 at the old hen with no rebate mumbo jumbo.

First of all it's 2x not 5x, reviews on newegg are mixed: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductReview.aspx?Item=N82E16827118013

I've been holding my tongue for a while but this site has really fallen in quality. I saw this deal on my iPhone and then stopped a movie I was watching with my wife to fire up the desktop to come over and buy this thinking that it was a DVD+-RW and Blu-Ray drive. And then I find out that it's not. I don't know how much revenue I've made you in the past but I've bought several things linked through here and I'm not sure if I'll be doing that in the future. This oversight is not an isolated incident either.

Thanks for all the comments guys. I just want a cheap way to play Blu-ray dvds. If I buy a case for this, can I then hook up an hdmi cable between my tv and laptop and use this? Also, is this region free?

@jpnfun. Surely you meant b/w your TV and Desktop. it's region-free since you can re-program the Blu-ray drive region in Windows. You have 5 tries (switches of back-and-forth) before it's locked.

Ben, Ben, Ben. Come on pal. You can do better than this. It's a ROM for gawds sake. Ain't no burning going to happen with this unit.

Did you really need to read specs to know a $70 drive isn't a BR burner?

I was so offended by your message until I saw that I was being denegraded by the one and only toddsucks. It's an honor. Keep bensbargains dirty.
