Is this a good price??

well it depends, since this is refurbished i would say no because you can get something like this on a pc brand new and cheaper. But if you want a mac then sure.

#1, not really a good deal. unless processor speed is vitally important to you, i would recommend the current model with the nvidia geforce 9400m, despite the 300 MHz deficit. The new one can be had at $949 with a free iPod touch if you use the EDU discount (which practically anybody can get).

before 6/8/2009, yes, but not at this time. besides, the white macbook has had many cracking issues with the casing and such. just google macbook white case problem and you will see the list of complaints. still a great machine other than that.

Why not get a white MSI WIND and put a Mac OS on it? half the price! Sure its not authentic Mac, but just an option.

Nah, for Mac you'd better prepared for more troubles in compatibility.

@ ulyssesv:

Compatibility?!? Geez, I haven't heard anyone use that as a reason to shun Macs in a long while. The fact that all current Macs can run Windows really makes compatibility a non-issue. On the other hand, Windows machines require much more work to be made to run Mac software...

@ NWO:

I don't think this is much of a deal. The X3100 is far less capable than the 9400m found in the current model. In my opinion, it's worth the extra $100.

@ Klasniedryg:

The MSI Wind is indeed a great netbook to Hackintosh (I actually have a Wind running OS X). However, depending on an individual's needs, it may not be a better choice than a MacBook.

Disadvantages:
1. It really is much slower
2. The screen resolution is very low
3. Depending on your luck, you can end up with a Wind that has a webcam that doesn't work with iChat and/or Photo Booth and the internal mic still doesn't work in OS X.

Advantages:
1. It's much cheaper than a MacBook.
2. Smaller and lighter.

$899 is not a great deal for a Macbook if you can get an education discount.

Education discount is not really any savings at all. You usually save about $50 - if you bought it full price from Amazon with no tax and free shipping it comes out much less in most states.

What kind of lowdown is this? Where my ghetto dogs at?

why bother with a Mac refurbished?

you can get a brand new windows 7 pc with far more features and a lower price. If this was a Macbook pro with a 500 GB and 4 GB of RAM then it would be a deal to me. But knowing Mac, this is not going to happen in the near future.

Mac mall is having the unibody version for about $930 after a $75 rebate

I agree, Its always better to have the genuine mac. But just a cheap alternative with the MSI Wind Very Happy And to those who prefer windows over mac or vice versa.. C'mon grow up! its a choice. Some people like mac, some like windows. I like to do different things on different systems.
