If you care, this one doesn't support Intel Virtualization Technology:

What do you mean #2? Intel is like a jelly donut. It is love.

Great for a system that needs heavy multitasking but nothing incredible CPU intensive. Doesn't make a lot of sense, I know, but a lot of 'simpler' applications will run better on this than a on a more powerful dual core, but one or a couple powerful apps will run better on a powerful dual core.

Generally speaking. There's always an exception.

But for $50 more at MicroCenter, you can get an i7 920... which blows this out of the water, completely.

also at microcenter quite often is the 12MB cache, 2.8 Ghz Q9550 which will OC to 3.8 under a true or megahalem. 169$.

My guess is that one would either do very little that needed all 4 cores-at which point get a 8400 which will be faster and cheaper than this-or you need something multithreaded and you should probably get the 9550 or the i7 as suggested above. there's not a lot reason to buy this at this price point.

The price is too high. I got it for the same price last year Black Friday at Frys. But it is a nice CPU. I run it at 3.2Ghz. I use it mainly for photo editing with photoshop and it works very well for me.

the high price of memory and mobos for i7 make comparing prices of this cpu with an i7 problematic

Thanks #5 for reminding me of Microcenter.
