Discover is crap. My wife had an 11 year history with them. Never missed a payment, carried a balance that generated interest for the company at 8% or so. We got a letter that they were raising the rate to 15%. There was no triggering event (late on other cards, etc). We called, complained, got nowhere, and canceled the card. Paid it off in 3 months. Hey Discover, discover THIS (you cannot observe, but I am grabbing my crotch).

does the discover card have an annual fee? I would like to get one to get one in case visa/mc isn't accepted.

most of these have 2-cycle billing.
You pay interest on 2 months worth of charges each month, instead of 1 month. Then, they give you a small kickback - they let you have small % of your money back, and you clap with glee.

to carry a balance to get reward never make sense to me, just doesn't make math sense.

I work at a small restaurant. I've seen lot of customers try to use their Discover/AX card and get dinied. Then they start pulling out their Visa/Master cards and realize not so much places taking D/AX now.
Eventhough there is only Visa/Master sign displayed, but they still trying to get some money from they cheap pay meals. What a losers!

Pay off the cards completely every month and these are great. I get over $350 a year with all the case back and rewards.

Amex is still the best thing going, and these Costco Amex pay a ton back. Don't carry a balance and it's all gravy.
