Mac users should have point-and-shoot cams.
Vista users ... dSLR's.
Linux? just draw your own picture.

#6 not sure what the mac joke was supposed to mean. Vistas shouldnt buy a camera and use an imaginary one because the OS prob wont pick up the camera anyway

This seems like a good deal. Especially if you have old Pentax lenses. One nice thing about their stuff is the new bodies will fit ANY Pentax lens ever made without an adapter. IS in the body seems like much better value than in the lens (like Canon and Nikon) because you only have to buy it once, not for each lens you want to use it with. That was a big selling point for me when I got my e-510.

This pentax uses AA batteries and SD cards.. To me thats a major selling point.
Why buy a camera that has a proprietary battery system requiring you to purchase something that only works in the camera it was made for.
AAs.. I can use in my pentax dslr, handheld gps, flashlight, or whatever device I have. Also only have 1 charger, not multiple ones for each devices battery.
SD cards have nearly the same usage.. picture frame, mp3 player, in-dash mp3 player in the car also takes SD cards..

I have a canon SLR. I like the images from Sony SLR's. However, I've heard good things about Pentax...

I guess Ben put the wrong info about it having the HD movie mode. And no built-in flash?

With the K20D running under $600, I'd skip the K2000 and K200D and go right for the K20D. It's a massive improvement.
The K2000 was largely introduced to compete with the crippled Nikon D40[x]/D60 line. For under $200 more, you can get the K20D which is vastly superior solution.
Lenses are where the cost is.
