Really? Amazon and Newegg reviews doesn't sound quite that bad. Not that I need one - my WRT54G v3 is still going strong.

I have a Netgear G router from 4 yrs ago, as do my parents (there's is 3 yrs old). I think I paid $30 for one, $40 for the other? Anyway, only recently has mine needed to be unplugged/replugged every so often (maybe once a month or so), so based on my experience and limited needs, I don't think I needed to spend 50% more on a Linksys... but that's just me.

They have an Asus that you can run DD-WRT on it. That is probably a great bargain way to go.

I've had this router for at least 5 years (yes, it is that old of a model), and it is not that bad. I have had to reboot it a couple of times a year after I notice everything looking sluggish, and my download speeds drop to dial-up range. But the complaints here are overstated. It works solidly the vast majority of the time.
That said, its old and I am replacing it soon with a Belkin N+.

I bought this model to replace a Linksys that had to be rebooted multiple times a day and it has performed great. I've reset it twice in the last year and a half.
