It should come with a magnifying glass so she can see the rock (and how much she means to you).

Learn to spell #8, and remember, a fender washer is more bang for the buck.

In the end, a ring is only a token, if you are emotionally attached to someone who thinks the amount of precious metal in a ring matters rather than the gesture, dump that greedy bitch.

No offense to women intended, only those who think monkey fascination with shiny objects is a good thing. Fixating about the type of metal or the stone in a ring is about as dumb as it gets, if you have the cash for a nicer ring, good, at least put it where it makes a real difference.

Been married four times, but I have yet to buy a diamond ring Smile They want a diamond, let them buy it themselves! I like jewelry on a woman, but the whole diamond-scam is a joke.

You guys are completely off base. For those who really can't afford a thousand dollar ring..bacon doesn't discredit their intention. If you were to surprise a girl with this ring and she says no..bacon was never meant to be.

#9, your posting WAS offensive. I know a lot of women have certain expectations on how they want things to be, regardless of who they're engaged to. If your girlfriend/future-wife-to-be really wants a nice ring, it's not a bad thing. It's human nature, crafted by human society.

On the other hand, being able to buy her such a ring and settling for a $200 piece of baconnaise is not a good idea - she will look at her hand every single day and wonder why you spent more on your power tools or computer parts than the single physical symbol of your commitment to each other.

I knew my girlfriend wanted a nice ring. Not overly gaudy, not extremely expensive, but nice. She respects the fact that I didn't spend all of my money on the ring, but she also knows I listened to what she wanted and didn't settle for some crappy trinket to represent my love for her. You buy this ring and you'll end up like #12.

-If you find a woman that can't think for herself, one that loves you instead of letting societal standards reign, she does not have enough intelligence that she should be reproducing... so wear a condom. Always. Thank you.

I am not against a nice wedding ring, rather the expectation that someone can expect one, when it's just a investment of money which starts to become the equivalent of making a women into a whore.

So in summary, if the quality of a ring makes a difference, you're looking at a shallow emo who doesn't have any common sense. Ask her what she really wants/needs, something that will actually improve her quality of life and spend the money there instead. It's not about being cheap, it's about expectations and true benefit vs insanity. Spend plenty, just don't do so reinforcing antiquated nonsense.
