Camping light is tailored more towards runtime, which is what you'd need more than on a keychain light... and it's $2.49, even if someone gave you the parts to build one for free it'd take more than $2.49 worth of your time to do so.

Bought one of those camp lights. Lasted about 15 minutes then one of the LEDs caught on fire. Terrible smell. Do not buy.

^ That's very strange, it's almost impossible for those LEDs to catch on fire as there is only a tiny bond wire that would simply melt without even enough heat to get the plastic casing of the LED up to melting point. On the other hand if the wiring was bad and it ran from more than 4.5V, that could cause a hot wire igniting plastic it sat against.

On the other hand, it is very common for cheap lights using several LEDs and 3 x series cells to burn out any specimens of LED with lower than average forward voltage property, but burn out only means the LED no longer lights up or does so only very dimly.
