Got really good reviews from PCG, and this looks like a steal for a 7.1 sound card.

This is not just A 7.1 card, this is one of the half a dozen or so cards that support DDL, ie you can have 5.1 surround sound with games via a digital port. None of the Sound blasters can do that.
This is a good deal, this card usually goes for $60.

Update: #3, you could download 32/64 bit Vista drivers from Diamond's website ( diamondmm.com). This card is the same thing as Diamond's 'Xtremesound 7.1 DDL' offering, except that it's in a different box packaging.

It wasn't compatible with Vista last I checked, so do a little research before buying for Vista or W7 use.

I've used Turtle Beach sound cards before. Good products.

Much better then SoundBlaster.

I remember them having very good products too. But I havent heard anything about them in a long time. Glad theyre still around.

I have also found sounder blaster cards are pretty big crap.

How much better then built in motherboard sound if using for 2 speaker stereo mode only?

This card is supported on Vista 32bit, not on 64 bit. It is a fantastic card, I've had one for over a year now in my media center PC and sound quality with Blu-Ray/HDDVD's is great. FYI, I run Vista 64 bit and it's working fine with the 32 bit drivers forced.

They say they have a Windows 7 Driver on the way but they have not specified if there will be a 64bit driver.

I'd recommend this card for someone whos looking to get a little more than MP3 playback out of their system but I don't know if it's really the best gamer card since most gamers will have more than 4GB ram and thus will have a 64bit OS. Thats not to say I think it's unreliable, just that I know gamers are particular about compatibility. Quality wise, it ranked tops when I bought it, and still performs like a champ.

Other thoughts, these days I'd go with a PCI-e sound card if possible.

They make good sound cards, but I promise you they will abandon you, it happened to me twice. They stop writing drivers as soon as they come out with a new product.
