Bought this $75 after $25 off coupon at Staples. Works just fine.

Bought it on line for about $75, too, from the Western Digital store ("refurb." but seemed new to me). Works well.

I've had one of these for 8 months. Functionality-wise it worked quite well. Picture was great at 1080p. It played most of the videos I threw at it (DVD rips and MP4/DIVX/MKV with a variety of video/audio codecs).
On the down-side, it responds slowly to the remote control. More annoying is that about every 10th time I'd use it, the thing would lock up (mostly when fast-forwarding/reversing videos, but sometimes when just navigating menus). I was upgraded to the latest software, which improved but didn't eliminate the problem.
Now the damn remote just bit the dust (batteries are brand new!) rendering the whole thing useless. Back for warranty repair.

I think one of the mod can be use to make it networkable though USB wifi adapter. GIve up one USB slot for Wifi (I think people have use USB hub on it too).
I have that mod but I haven't try Wifi as I don't think it will play well with HD materials.
Work wells but doesn't play a few popular formats (also won't decode WMHD multi audio stream).

I think it does not play RMVB codec. Probably you can check M2TV. I will wait for the next version of WDTV.

If you don't care for HD, then nothing beats an original XBOX with XBMC (and Aeon Lite theme). But you really need an HDTV with an HTPC / ATV with XBMC to appreciate this gorgeous Aeon Auriga theme.

Best setup IMHO? Dell Studio Mini (check their outlet for cheaper ones, generally $279 or so). It has a fast processor too! Then run Linux and XBMC. This way you can do more with the system other than XBMC because of the OS

#12, you can't play DVD on this. A lot of Korean manufacturers have ones which are much better than this with DVD drives. Google and Bing are your friends.

#9 and #10, would you please elaborate. Can the original Xbox do the same things* as the 360; I am really sick of paying my cable bill. Thanks.

no hard drive and no DTS decoding. I'd rather invest 200 more and get a mediocre PC and use it as multimedia player instead. for 400 you can get a really damn good one such as the gateway deal. I'm sure u can find something cheaper which do the job just fine.

This is easy to use and takes up little space, plays almost every type of format.

I have one and am really happy with it. This is great for portability, with a external drive or a flash drive it weight less than 3 pounds. Which makes it easy for travel.
