Dual digital outputs makes this a pretty fair deal.

a good low end card, but the rebate kills the deal.

I got it $35 from egg last week. I must email them to complain

does this one have problem with audio pass through on HDMI? I know that some brands of the 4350 card did have issues.

Also, if you can find the ASUS brand (bought last week for $25AR from the egg) it is fanless and much better for an HTPC.

I have an HP desktop with a GeForce 8400GS video card that keeps getting a scrambled display on the monitor. Switched out monitors and it does the same thing. Updated the driver off Nvidia's website. Any other ideas or how do I confirm the problem is the video card? Irks me that pc is only 18 months old.

# 4 again Yes Asus one is better (got that one too). It is fanless design with huge heatsink. Fan on Gigabyte can get a little bit loud at times.

Both are decent cards.

#6 try a different monitor cable first

Thanks #8, but I tried a whole different cable and monitor from another pc and it did the same thing. You can tell the pc is running, but the display is so scrambled with lines, squares, etc it is unreadable. Is it unusual for a video card to die in less than two years use? How much to replace with a decent video card for my kids to play pc games like Battlefield and Star Wars on it?

Try putting the 8400 in a different computer. If you get the same result, then it's the video card. How did you download and install the latest drivers if the vidcard won't display?

I've only ever had 1 vidcard die on me. A 7300 within 6 months. I've never used the same vidcard for 2 years, but I've handed them down to other people who have without them dying.

The 4670 is a nice combination of cheap and efficient and won't require a PS upgrade. I've seen them as low as $40 after rebate.

#10, once the display is scrambled it usually just comes back on scrambled after powering the pc down and turning it back on, but sometimes it will boot up and run normally for a time. Then the display will just get scrambled again while surfing the internet, email or playing a game. It might work only 5% of the time right now. The pc is a HP Pavillion m9000t. I downloaded a driver directly from Nvidia's website while it was working last night. Worked for a while and then it scrambled again. Frustrating!

#11, it's probably the vidcard, but could be the vidcard slot or even the PS. Your best bet is putting the 8400 into another computer and running it for a while to see if it does the same thing.

You could try fixya.com. If you can't find a solution in their database or through posting your problem and asking for advice, they have expert assistance from $9.99 that a friend tried and liked.

If the video card has a fan, make sure it's actually spinning.

As to the fan cooler bear in mind this is an OC’d unit so a heat-sink only might not be enough. For a HTPC where silence is golden this might not be the high on the list, . I’d consider this card as an IGP up-grade for an older slim-line enclosure with limited air movement. I used a 3450 with smallish H-S (stock clock) in a slim line and it ran hotter than I liked. Ended up remounting the cooler and added a small fan to move air in that area… and it was all good. For someone who looking for DVI-D HDMI outputs without worrying about airflow issue this is a straightforward plug-in. Read through 4 page of the latest Eggviews and no comment on the fan (either quiet or loud), so it appear to be alright for what it is. But some of those Eggviews leave a lot to be desired.

There's MSI 4350 for the same money; it's dual slot Heat-sink down side while it doesn't come with the L-P bracket.

For $3 extra the Asus is another choice; again dual slot but at least it includes a L-P bracket that's dual slot so you can still have the VGA connector.

Lastly I wouldn't consider pushing this 500W Apevia PSU past 380W; but as a Combo it's priced right... Someone might find it has value? $30 -AR $10 & $20 free shipping.

#6 I see only two problems that you might able to fix this problem. First, go to device mananger under device manger click on Display adapters, If you see two display adapters click on one that's using onboard (disable) that click Okay. reboot problem should fix.. If you already done that, It must be your power supply, I use 500watts Min, so that it would be the last place I look at if things like that happen. If you already done that, Try reboot your computer tap on delete untill you see BIOS come's up, click on untill you see Video make sure you set it to PCI-E video instead of onboard.. If everything fail, Try to upgrade you driver. If that fail, try to move it to another computer, If that fail. time to RMA the video card.. Good Luck..

I bought two of this Gigabyte 4350 is on two of my computers, Works nice, worth the money. you can install two of this card and make 1GB of memory if you board support dual card, over clock easy, Not the BEST. But very DECENT, good graphic. I have'nt see any rebates check yet? two month already.. Even with-out the rebate, still worth it. would buy again..

# 17 - 8 to 12 weeks.... Usually 12 with Gigabyte. At least i got mine for motherboard in 12 weeks. Did you receive email from gigabyte stating that rebate has been processed?

#17, Turned on pc this morning and can't get it to get beyone scrambled display. I'll try turning it on again later and see if I can get it to do anything.

I remembered yesterday that I bought this using American Express and they double the manufacturers warranty. So I put a claim in with them last night so hopefully they will cover the cost to repair or replace.

Has anyone ever used this American Express Extended Warranty benefit?
