Kind of underpowered for a subwoofer, but what can you expect for $57. If you want real powerful bass go for a Z-2300 or something similar, although deals on them seem to be few and far between.
HP has them on sale from time to time, stackable with a coupon or two goes a long way with HP.

These are ok, but there are better 2.1 sets for the money. I always thought these sounded boomy without much midrange or high end. Look into the creative sets in this price range, or save up and get some proper speakers, like the Klipsch Promedia 2.1's
edit: I just checked prices on the klipsch speakers... damn, they got expensive. I got mine for like $120 on sale.
