better off buying an all in one printer, why spend the same amount on a stand-alone scanner? does this have much better scan resolution?

These Canon scanners are USB powered, lightweight, compact, and do an excellent job. We have a 70 and it takes frequent trips between our offices with no drama. Plug it in and get busy.

#2 is right, AIO scanners are poor quality but this one is poor quality too.
A good scanner does not use CIS engine, it uses CCD. A few decent ones now use LED illumination but most still a CFL lamp.
No good scanner is powered by USB either. This scanner is quite overpriced for what it is. Does a fair job, but for this price there are many many better alternatives to the point you can randomly pick one with CCD sensor and do better.
