If you're upgrading from 10.4 you'll need to get the MUCH more expensive Mac Box Set.

Still, this is hopefully a good trend being set - OS upgrades for an upgrade price. Unlike some OS manufacturers, Apple seems interested in rewarding their customers.

Or, you could go the Linux route and everything is free.

I'll stick with 1411, it does everything I need and I don't have to buy a new apple.

Let them make their money on someone else.

I love the new packaging, with it's clipart and everything. Apple is trying to be like Microsoft!

Intel Macs only - they removed the PPC code from the code base (that's how they recovered 7 GB). Probably not a big deal to anybody, given that even the last G5 was discontinued 3 yrs ago - in which case regular Leopard will still work perfectly fine on it.

This is more like a service pack. That's why it goes from leopard to snow leopard. Same cat minor distinction. Doesn't add much you can see. More about performance improvements. Microsoft sucks but at least service packs are free. I wish Linux would get more traction..

the truth is somewhere in between. is it a service pack? no. is it a full upgrade like from vista to 7? not quite there either. but I do think based on the upgrades that were offered, $29 is not too much of a price to ask.

$29 is pocket change for Apple enthusiasts.
