Supply and demand would dictate that the $300-350 price range is pretty spot on considering a large chunk of new pcs sold are netbooks.

Once the new model comes out, this will drop under the $300 mark and eventually at $250.

If you go to go g l e shopping, the minimum with shipping is $305.
You can always to Craig's list and get cheap software for it.
And for the Apple fans of which I am one but still with at G4 and Tiger OSX, Snow Leopard is out and the $29 upgrade is a full install, requires an intel mac.
