wonder if you stack the $10 off $40 found in Entertainment books...

... everything will still cost more than it does anywhere else. Radio Shack forgot who they are, a novelty and electronic components store instead of a cellphone shop with employees who can't even spell cellphone.

Wow, that is a lot to spend to just get 10% off.

I don't think they forgot who they were. I think people aren't buying so many electronic components nowadays and Radio Shack doesn't have a lot of retail space, so they sell just a few things with the highest profit margin so they can afford to stay in business to sell you electronic components.

One of my favorite Onion articles is about the RadioShack CEO not able to figure out how the company is still in business.

I tend to disagree, decades ago most people weren't ham radio operators or building their own stereos, but today we have tons of online forums where people build anything from flashlights to stereos to MP3 players to electric cars and bikes.

Granted at the same time the internet exposed what crap quality Radio Shack's parts were, and how excessively priced... rather I meant it gave people a better method of easily sharing where to find and quickly order better parts.

I've heard it time and time again, people who used to go to Radio Shack for small misc parts whether it be a capacitor, a rare battery, or a spitter for their tv distribution. Hearing of people continuing to go or starting anew because they sell cellphones isn't something I've ever heard.

Maybe if they were located in shadier parts of town, open all night and sold crack too...

Dave, are you seriously trying to tell me that people are making more of their own stuff and fixing their stuff today than in the past? I don't think makezine.com makes up for the fact that today's electronics are disposable and become outdated quicker than they break and that anyone that reads that website is well aware that they can order parts over the internet without paying for Radio Shack's overhead. You need to get for real, bro.
