Only good for purchases today & tomorrow (9/7 & 9/
. Not an upgrade rebate, so you don't have to have proof of previous version, but not everyone will want to tie up that much $$ for 2 to 3 months.
Not sure why the rebate companies want to do cash cards nowadays, though. Anyone?

Zone Alarm has a new version just out; I'm waiting for a deal on that one. Had a virus eat my hard drive several years ago while using Norton, and won't go back.

I haven't used Norton in several years. Back then it was a pain. It was slow, tried to take over my machine and wouldn't let me completely uninstall it. I got a brand new out of the box free after rebate version when the current subscription ran out. After uninstalling the old version and reinstalling with the new version, it told me I could not update my virus definitions because my subscription had expired. That's when it went into my circle file and has never returned to my computer. They lost me as a customer for good.

Rebate companies do cash cards because they can buy them at a discount. Sometimes, with very large volumes, a HUGE discount, like 25% or more.
Reason for that is, the cash cards expire and some decent percentage of them never get used.
They rely on that, just as they rely on some decent percentage of rebates never being submitted.
Rebates will continue to be more or less a scam until they're regulated or eliminated.

As stated, Norton is a resource hog. It sucks, big time, and my guess would be that their reputation has gotten so bad, that's why they play the rebate game - it's the only way they can unload their shit.

And, if it's good for someone (I like rebates), it's not illegal, it does not harm you or any other people or the society, why would you want to eliminate it?
