NewEgg's add ( http://promotions.newegg.com/NEemail/Sep-0-2009/Memory11/index-landing.html ) seems to infer that the 10% off coupon code works for ALL internal, external and laptop hard drives. If so, pick your favorite manufacturer and model.
The 500g listed here is good, but so is their 640g and 750g. I think the better price-point is their 750g ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136319 ) listed at $74.99 with free shipping....then add the 10% coupon (EMCHDD10B) for $67.49 total. So for less than $10 more, you get a larger hard drive.

I have a question for everyone...
Although my question is 'off topic' for this add, I feel is relevant as a price comparison discussion for Ben's advertised product to other WD products.
First, leave out any manufacturer arguments and lets just look at the WD hard drive products.
WD has their 'Black' line of products which carry a 5yr warranty, which I presume have better performance to their 'Green' and 'Blue' products that are suited for other situations and customer needs. That said, WD also has an 'RE3' line of products which also carry a 5yr warranty and appear to have the similar product specs to their 'Black' line.
I realize that the 'RE3' product line are advertised as 'enterprise class' products (which might be marketing hype), but why do the 'RE3' drives warrant the substantial price difference? Is it a higher MTBF? Better quality internal components? Higher quality control / product sampling?
As always, your opinions are valued and appreciated.

I think the RE3 product line drives come with porn already on them, so that explains the price premium. Not sure what kind is included though.

#2, I'd call and ask WD though the black series is probably more than capable/required for your needs.
