In case anyone wants to know, I use just a generic USB microphone (not a Guitar Hero branded mic) and it seems to work ok. I can't say that it is as good as a GH mic, because I haven't had the opportunity to compare.
I wish there were a comparable drum replacement, but I have not seen any. I think the prices for these are outrageous.

Are they planning to release a new Rock Band any time soon? The songs from the Beatles game can't be imported.
